“One test of the correctness of educational procedure is the happiness of the child.”
~ Dr. Maria Montessori
Nurturing Independent Thinkers, Confident Learners, and Kind Humans
At Beaches Montessori, our Elementary Program (Grades 1–6) continues the Montessori
journey by guiding children through an exciting stage of intellectual curiosity and personal
growth. Rooted in Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy, our program empowers students to take
ownership of their learning, explore deeply, and develop into confident, compassionate
Individuals.
Our elementary school is located at 995 Kingston Road, a warm and inspiring space designed
specifically for hands-on learning and meaningful collaboration.
Our Classrooms: Lower & Upper Elementary
The program is divided into two multi-age classrooms that reflect the natural stages of child
development:
- Lower Elementary (Grades 1–3): Children begin to expand their curiosity about the
world, building strong foundations in math, language, and cultural studies through active
exploration and storytelling. - Upper Elementary (Grades 4–6): Students become increasingly independent and
intellectually adventurous, engaging in complex projects, research, and community-based
learning that prepare them for middle school and beyond.
Each classroom has a maximum of 15 children, ensuring personalized attention, strong
teacher–student relationships, and a close-knit, supportive community.
The Montessori Difference: Learning with Purpose
Our classrooms are vibrant communities where children learn through hands-on exploration and
meaningful connections. Rather than memorizing facts, students engage in big-picture learning
— understanding how things work, why they matter, and where their learning fits in the world.
Key features of our Montessori Elementary approach include:
- Individualized Learning: Each child follows a personalized plan, progressing at their
own pace and exploring topics that ignite their curiosity. - Interdisciplinary Curriculum: Subjects like math, science, language, history, and
geography are woven together through stories, projects, and research — creating true
understanding, not isolated skills. - Intrinsic Motivation: Without grades or competition, children learn for the joy of
discovery, developing strong internal motivation and a lasting love of learning. - Critical Thinking & Collaboration: Students work independently and in groups,
learning to problem-solve, think deeply, and respect diverse perspectives. - Global and Environmental Awareness: Montessori’s “Cosmic Education” fosters a
sense of connection — helping children see their role in caring for the planet and their community.
